Government
Cherry Creek is in District 10 of the Denver City Council, and the Councilman is Jeanne Robb, 303-377-1807,

Colorado's governor is Bill Ritter and Denver's mayor is John W. Hickenlooper. Denver, the capital of the State of Colorado, is a consolidated city and county. It serves as the financial, transportation, and distribution center of the Rocky Mountain region. Denver was officially formed on November 7, 1861. A non-partisan elected mayor, auditor, and 13-member city council govern Denver. Nine main departments carry out the functions of city government.

History
In the late 1870s, Denver citizens began moving to a suburban area called Harman. In 1925, early Denver architect Temple Buell bought land next to Cherry Creek, having noticed the area had grown into a small town. In 1946 with the growing number of automobiles and people's willingness to shop in areas other than downtown, Buell began building a shopping center on this land. The Denver Dry Goods in Cherry Creek store opened in 1953 followed by a Sears Roebuck on the other side of First Avenue. These were the first anchors of the Cherry Creek Mall.
