Denver Area Information & Promotion

The Metro Denver area is located where east meets the west -- where the Rocky Mountains begin and the Great Plains end. On the high plains just east of the Rocky Mountains, Denver has moderate temperatures and snowfalls. And it really is a "Mile High" city. "5,280 feet above sea level" is what it says on one step of the west side of the Colorado State Capitol Building. The Metro Denver area is comprised of seven counties and 60 communities.

Colorado is a place where people love the great outdoors. We have a mild climate, low humidity and 300 days of sunshine. With the Rocky Mountains right here, the scenery is stunning. It's not surprising that so many people lead an active lifestyle.

Open space and public parks are important to the communities in the metro Denver area. The city of Denver has one of the largest public park systems of any city in the U.S. Thousands of acres of Open Space are scattered throughout the area. Residents enjoy hiking, biking, snowshoeing and cross country skiing right outside their back yards. Numerous world-class ski resorts are within an hour or two drive of most of the metro area. Denver is the only city in the country that has eight professional sports teams - in hockey, basketball, football, baseball, lacrosse and soccer.

Culturally, Metro Denver covers all interests, from having more theater seats than New York's Lincoln Center and boasting a new internationally renowned art museum expansion by a famous architect. The area's diverse population supports culture through the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District, a unique regional funding system for venues like the Denver Center for the Performing Arts (DCPA) and the Denver Art Museum. In Metro Denver's vibrant urban core, there are endless shopping, patio dining, and entertainment options. A favorite summertime activity for many locals is catching a concert at Red Rocks Amphitheater, the world-famous outdoor music venue in the foothills of Metro Denver.

The Denver Metro area boasts very livable towns, as you will see as you browse through these descriptions. You'll find that many were winners or finalists in CNN.com's Most Livable Cities award selections. Highlands Ranch and the City of Denver's redevelopment of Stapleton and Lowry are award-winning planned communities. A broad spectrum of housing options is available in Metro Denver, ranging from executive housing to entry-level homes.

Metro Denver's cost of living remains affordable. Living here is easier on your wallet than living in California or East Coast cities, as well as Chicago, Minneapolis, and Portland.

At ColoradoHousefinders.com, we can help you narrow down your city selections. Our team of professionals has lived here their entire life, and we know the area well. We'd love to answer your questions, show you the area and be able to find you exactly what you are looking for. Give us a call!
