About Cherry Creek
The upscale Cherry Creek real estate area has as its center the well-known Cherry Creek Mall with a high number of luxury stores like Louis Vuitton and Tiffany & Co. The community offers gyms, cafes, supermarkets and shopping not only in the Cherry Creek Mall but in the Cherry Creek North shopping district, as well. The area is populated by some of Denver's most well-to-do citizens and is home to the Denver Country Club.
In summer, the Cherry Creek Arts Festival brings thousands to the area to celebrate artistic and musical work by artists and performers from all over the world.
In the late 1870s, Denver citizens began moving to the then suburban area called Harman. It wasn't until 1925 that the early Denver architect Temple Buell noticed the area had grown into a small town and bought some land next to Cherry Creek. In 1946 with the growing number of automobiles and people's willingness to shop in areas other than downtown, Buell began building a shopping center on this land. The Denver Dry Goods in Cherry Creek store opened in 1953 followed by a Sears Roebuck on the other side of First Avenue.
